IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE (2016/2020)

Sun-Dyed Inkjet Print + Printmaking Paper, Hand Bound Accordian Style, 8.5" x 11"

A single edition artist’s book created from a mistakenly shot, panoramic roll of film, with images spanning August to December 2016.

In the final months of 2016 and 2020, with the help of psychotherapy, I committed to working through personal and public political struggles, including abusive relationship patterns with lovers and family, inability to properly care for myself, and deepening political convictions in the face of increasingly visible fascism. Through this book-object, I give voice to my growth, as well as meditate on the ways in which cycles recur, are relived, and how powerful it is to reclaim mistakes towards growth.
